Detective Zeke Henderson is surprised when he finds Gary Short at the scene of a double murder. He has met Gary before. He was first on the scene of the car accident that killed Gary’s partner Sam. Zeke has always felt guilty for not checking on Gary after the accident but he never expected to meet Gary like this.

Gary is covered in blood. He is incoherent and keeps repeating a story about ‘It” hugging him and then not being able to breath and passing out. He is also high on a drug that keeps him from feeling or caring about anything. He is obviously damaged and in need of help.

Zeke feels an intense need to take care of him. However, Zeke knows he has to do his job and get the truth about the murders out of Gary no matter how he feels. As he works with Gary he realizes that Gary has suffered more than he ever imagined and he knows he will do anything to keep him safe.

WITNESS by Mike Shade is an intense and very erotic read. Gary and Zeke’s interactions are a lot of fun and also extremely hot. The author does a great job of keeping readers on their toes. The sense of danger and suspense never lets up. The villain is so creepy and feels so real that I found myself making sure to keep a light on.
