Dr. Jackson McKay never thought that his governmental research project on a chemical weapon would cause him and Emily, his eight year old daughter, to be kidnapped by terrorists; yet, that’s actually what happened. Jackson’s captors threatened his daughter’s life if he didn’t turn over his top-secret research files. Desperate to save Emily, Jackson managed to escape while the kidnappers were distracted with a wildfire as they were on their way down the mountain to Jackson’s lab. As Jackson was on his way back to the cabin where Emily was being held, while trying to avoid being recaptured, he happened upon a group of smokejumpers.

The instant smokejumpers Lauren Michaels and her team landed in the mist of a mountain wildfire, they found themselves in the middle of a deadly shooting situation that involved Jackson McKay. Assessing the hostile circumstances, Lauren quickly determined that she was the best person to lead Jackson safely down the mountain and to the police. The task was difficult enough with the inferno wildfire; but, it became even more problematical with a crazed sniper hot on their trail whose only goal was to kill them before they made it to safety. So, with all the danger surrounding them at every turn, why were Lauren’s hormones kicking into overdrive the more time she spent in Jackson’s company?

Wow! What a super hot, suspenseful, romantic story! UNDER FIRE kept my heart racing with each turn of the page. It grabbed me immediately and wouldn’t let go until the end. I loved everything about this book – from the lustful romance, to the continuous dangerous hide and seek game, to the witty and loveable secondary characters, there was never a dull second within UNDER FIRE. Readers, be prepared for an emotional, non-stop action treat, because once you start UNDER FIRE you will not be able to put it down. Beth Cornelison is an excellent suspense writer, and I was simply amazed that she managed to bring forth surprise feelings from me that I had never experienced before – I felt sympathy for the villains! All I can say again is, wow. So, Run! Don’t walk to get your copy of UNDER FIRE. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
