Kat McKenna is a charming school teacher and full of life.  Upon her arrival to check on a friend’s house, she discovers the house up in flames.  When the fire department arrives, they discover Kat passed out on the ground.  When Kat wakes up, she is looking into the eyes of the sexiest man she has ever seen.  She is not prepared for the fiery passion that erupts within her.  Kat is determined to crack the hard shell of her sexy fireman’s heart and convince him she is the woman who can heal him.  Will Kat win the devotion of the man she has fallen in love with?

Howard Paxton is an enigmatic fireman who keeps his heart hidden from all others.  He will not allow anyone to get close to him because of the ghastly deeds he suffered as a child.  When Howard picks up the sexy woman he discovers at a burning house, he is shocked by the blistering passion that engulfs him.  Howard is astonished to discover that he has become the target of an arsonist and will do everything he can to protect the woman who is slowly seeping into his heart.  But Howard is afraid to let her any closer for fear of having his heart broken again.  Will Howard crumble the fortress built around his heart and let Kat’s love shine through?  Or will the past he has been running from finally catch up to him and destroy any hope of love?

Within the pages of TRIAL BY FIRE you will discover a sizzling hero paired up with a dynamic heroine that heat up the pages with an scorching passion.  Jo Davis delights her readers with a romantic suspense weaved with an enthralling plot that wills you to turn the pages quickly to see how it ends.  I truly enjoyed the cast of vibrant characters within this charming tale.  I laughed out loud at the antics and cried when the heart of the story unfolded. 

Kat McKenna is a robust character with a wonderful sense of humor and a big heart you can not help but to love.  She is determined to break through the walls that Howard has built around his heart.  Although she finds Howard to be mulish and standoffish, she is unwavering in her determination to win his love. 

Howard Paxton is a searing hero that captured my heart.  He is afraid to love due to the horrid past he harbors close to him.  I cried after learning what happened to him as a boy and sobbed harder when he was able to finally let love brighten his world.  He believes Kat is pushy and stubborn but his heart will not be denied the love he deserves.

The secondary characters are just as lively and vivacious and kept me glued to the book to see how they fit into the story line.

I highly recommend this sizzling tale to everyone.  I look forward to reading more of Jo Davis’s books and putting them on my keeper shelf with TRIAL BY FIRE.
