Tough Enough

Will Tierney is an operative for Avalon, a secret organization that helps recover stolen art and antiquities.   They can do things that most security forces and government cannot due to legal or financial constraints.   His latest assignment is to investigate Haddington Reproductions and make sure that the genuine Eudoxia Reliquary will be sent to the Met and not the black market.   Posing as a journalist, Will finds himself face-to-face with Mia Dolan, his first love and now possible suspect.   Will he be able to separate his feelings for her or will Mia blow his cover and expose him to a criminal set on destroying Avalon.

TOUGH ENOUGH is a story of how lives can intersect again after so many years.   Will thought he was going in for another assignment when he sees Mia again.   She was his first love until she cheated on him while studying in Italy.   Even though it's been years, he can't help the emotional turmoil that he still feels.   Yet he has a job to do and his instincts are to protect Mia even though he isn't 100% sure of her innocence.   Mia is a woman who owns up to her mistakes.   She realizes what she did was wrong but she cannot change the past. However, she has changed.   She is very protective of her friends and wary of Will's intentions.   He isn't the boy she left behind but a man full of secrets. Her spirit and courage really helps her stay alive.   They also help her make some important choices in her life that change her future.

The secondary characters are quite interesting in TOUGH ENOUGH.   Some are shady while others just make the wrong choices.   However, the most interesting were three characters, Ben Sheridan, his mysterious boss and Avalon's nemesis, Rainert von Lohr.   Even though they play a minor role in this story, they are part of a bigger and more sweeping storyline that I feel will continue to unravel and eventually play a big part in this cat and mouse game between Avalon and von Lohr.   TOUGH ENOUGH not only brings lovers back together but also has an interesting secondary plot which will captivate readers who enjoy a good romantic thriller.
