From the moment the police brought baby Emma to Maggie Ryan after both her parents were killed in a car accident Maggie has loved Emma. She also knew that the only way she would be able to keep Emma with her was to find someone in Emma’s family who was willing to give her up. After numerous failed attempts to find anyone, Maggie turns to her Abuela Lupe for help. With help from Lupe’s magic crystals Maggie ends up in a rundown flat in New York to meet a man named Colin Fairfax. Before Maggie even has a chance to explain herself bullets start flying and she ends up having to save Colin’s life. When Maggie decides to take Colin home to Texas with her, to show him how much she loves Emma, she didn’t realize she was bringing the danger right to her doorstep.

Colin Fairfax is desperate to find any information that will lead him to his brother John’s whereabouts. When Maggie shows up telling him that not only is his brother dead but that she has his niece with her he decides to play along and see what she knows. Colin knew that his brother went deep undercover for the SIS to infiltrate a drug ring but he has never heard that John had married or fathered a child. From the moment Colin met Emma he knew that Maggie was telling him the truth but he also knew that his brother’s car accident was no accident, John was murdered. Now those same people that murdered John are after Colin and Maggie and they will stop at nothing to shut these two up for good.

While Maggie and Colin search for the truth behind John and his wife’s death Maggie realizes two things, she is falling in love with Colin and Colin is falling in love with Emma. Maggie begins to consider a new plan, to make Colin want her as much as he wanted Emma. Unfortunately Colin’s own parents taught him early on that people with different backgrounds are not meant to be together forever. What will happen to Maggie when Colin leaves her heartbroken, taking the child of her heart with him?

Linda Conrad saved the best for last with IN SAFE HANDS. The entire series has kept me completely captivated and anxiously awaiting the next book to see what will happen to the three Ryan siblings. IN SAFE HANDS brings this series to a conclusion that left me feeling completely satisfied and a bit sad to see it end. Watching Colin struggle with his feeling for Maggie because of things he learned in his childhood yet wanting to believe that just maybe they could be different was heartbreaking and bittersweet. In all three stories Maggie is strong, loving and so full of life you can’t help but love her and all those characters shine through in her story making THE SAFE KEEPERS: IN SAFE HANDS one of the best stories I have read in a very long time.
