Emily is desperately lonely. Leaving her small Kentucky town to move into the big city was a major change for Emily. Being shy has left her with no friends and completely homesick. Everything changes for Emily, however, the night she starts receiving boxes of roses at her door with mysterious notes attached. Dooms Day for Emily is coming up, the year anniversary of her moving to the big city, and a day that Emily plans on calling it quits to run back home. No one but her should know about this day, but the person sending her the boxes of roses certainly seems to know her quite well. Totally freaked out, Emily doesn't know where to turn. The sexy police officer that comes to her rescue might just have what it takes to both serve and protect Emily—after they find out who the psycho playing games with Emily is, of course!

THE BLACK ROSE is a thrilling and dramatic romance. Skyler Grey integrates the perfect amount of romance and chills to make this one of the most suspenseful romances I have ever read. Emily is such a sweet and innocent character. She has no idea of the magnitude of evil some people possess. When that evil is directed at her, she has no idea where to turn. She's never been brought up to deal with these kinds of issues while being in a small town. It's really creepy to sit back and think about the type of person that would be out to harm such an inexperienced young lady. Officer Andrew is an everyday hero, someone the public looks upon to keep us safe. He's a shoo in for Emily's knight in shining armor. Andrew is warm, funny and definitely sexy as all get out. When things get totally out of hand, Andrew will risk anything to keep his sweetheart safe. There is definitely some nail-biting moments in this story that left me intrigued and dying to know "who done it." The romance that blossoms between these characters is sweet and gentle, and at moments sensual and seductive. All of these attributes have made THE BLACK ROSE one of my favorite stories ever from Skyler Grey!
