When his daughter arrives at his office with a threatening letter Detective Nathaniel Holden jumps to the wrong conclusion, and assumes she is the one being threatened but Ellie is quick to explain that the letters are being sent to one of her professors. She wants her father to figure out who wants to hurt Professor Munro. 

Professor Asher Munro isn’t all that concerned about the letters that he is receiving on a regular basis. As a published author and a major activist for Gay rights he gets a lot of attention good and bad. He knows his views rub many people the wrong way but he doesn’t really believe he is in any real danger, until he is brutally attacked in his office.

Nathaniel believes that they are dealing with an amateur however; the attack on Asher proves that he is in much more danger than anyone realized. He assigned to protect Asher but being close to the man is the last thing he wants. Nathaniel can’t deny the intense attraction he feels for the sexy professor but he has lived in the closet his whole life and he is determined to stay there no matter what.

This novel defied my expectations in a very good way. The mystery of who is out to hurt Asher held my interest but I was even more intrigued by Nathaniel and Asher’s interactions. The author takes her time developing the relationship between her two heroes allowing them to develop a deep and meaningful connection. SLEEPING WITH THE PAST by Cassidy Ryan is a thrilling and very romantic story.
