Resisting Kane

Madison doesn’t have very fond memories from high school but the one associated with the most pain is Terence Kane.  She had always been drawn to him like a moth to a flame but he always snubbed her. To add to it, she had a label hanging over her head that she just couldn’t get rid of. She is the chief of police’s daughter.

Several years out of high school, Madison is an established woman who is no longer the shy, reclusive loser she once was labeled. Now she is the heartbreaker who knows no limits. Her gutsy manner becomes a problem when a former lover threatens her life. Terence comes back in her life as a bodyguard assigned by her dad.  Madison’s hackles instantly go up and she is instantly thrown back into the rocky days of high school.

However, Terence is a changed man. He is more mature and wants to atone for his past wrongs concerning Madison. He also had feelings for Madison in high school, but because he was black and she was white, he had been afraid of the backlash a relationship like theirs could bring. He has no clue just how much his actions affected Madison. It had never been his intent to hurt her. Now his task is to save her from the danger she’s in.  While doing so, he hopes to fix the wrongs he committed.

I loved that Kane was such an alpha male with great determination in pursuing Madison, but he was balanced out with just the right amount of tenderness. Madison was just as dominate and to see their personalities clash throughout this story kept me turning the page. Ms. Adkins doesn’t disappoint with this quick story. Kane and Madison are characters you will root for from beginning to end. RESISTING KANE is a book I highly recommend. You are guaranteed to be an avid reader of Ms. Adkins’ work by the time you are done.
