Lila Moreau, a.k.a. She Wolf, is an undercover operative for the Office for Political Unity and Security, also known as OPUS. She is one of the best female spies in the business. On this mission, she will have a partner. His name is Joel Faraday, code name Virtuoso, and an archivist. Lila prefers to work alone and thinks she will get her way–that is, until Joel catches her breaking into his bedroom and handcuffs her to his bed.

Unfortunately, Lila is caught in a hard place and agrees to be partners with Joel. They must find and capture the elusive Adrian Padgett, who used to be an OPUS agent and is now on the lam. Adrian knows many secrets, and his goal is to blackmail the world for millions of dollars by coming up with a virus that could cripple the world. Lila and Joel must stop him before he succeeds. This is also personal for Lila, because she and Adrian had a romantic past, and he possibly murdered her father’s partner.

They are able to locate Adrian in Ohio, working with some local college kids who can hack into computers . Lila and Joel will pretend to be graduate students and lovers who are living together. Even though this is supposed to be make-believe, Lila can’t help but want to break her own personal rule about getting involved with a man on such a dangerous mission. But Joel is too tempting, and even though he would love to find out what Lila is like in bed, he wants to make sure there is something more than just physical attraction between the two before he ends up acting on their lust.

Adrian is practically in their grasp, and both Lila and Joel will have to use their brains and skill to set the perfect trap. But when an innocent young woman falls under Adrian’s spell, it may be too late for Lila and Joel to save the world and even themselves.

I am very much a fan of Elizabeth Bevarly’s books and OVERNIGHT MALE should be a definite one to read and keep. I loved her world of spying, and Lila and Joel are two characters who grab you and keep you hooked. I especially had a soft spot for Lila because she is not what she seems. Her background is very interesting, and that is what makes her good at her job. It was so enjoyable to read as she fell for Joel and had no clue what to do about her new found feelings, whereas in her professional world, she is always in charge.

There is also a wonderful secondary romance between our pseudo-villain, Adrian, and Iris, a Goth-type graduate student who has some secrets of her own. Elizabeth Bevarly writes  lovely primary and secondary relationships that have become her trademark and all come together perfectly by the end. If you like a romance that has action, suspense and incredible sexy love scenes, OVERNIGHT MALE is a near-perfect read by an author who is a master.
