Kayla Shaw, a private banker, has just sold her childhood home.  Curiously, it sold immediately for much more than it was worth.  The home has felt so empty since her parents died.  The lonely banker is even dissatisfied with her job; she has tried to transfer out of private banking, but has not been successful.  Her one source of comfort is a painting she found in a garage sale.  Try as she may, she has been unable to find any more paintings by this particular artist.  She only knows his name – R. McCree.

Kayla was given the Bertone’s account exclusively a few months ago – a fact which still amazes her.  However, even knowing they have all that money and power, she is not prepared when she finds the Bertones threatening to blackmail her.  They pressure her with accusations of illegally laundering millions of dollars.  She is still reeling from the allegations when she barely escapes an attempted kidnapping from the Bertone’s garden.  Backed into a corner by lies and what amounts to bogus evidence, she has nowhere to turn until Rand McCree comes to her rescue.

Rand, knowing Kayla is the Bertone’s private banker, is close by when she is attacked.  Soon the two are on the run with the aid of St. Kilda Consulting.  They no longer have to worry about blackmail - assassins are after them.  Strangers, Rand and Kayla are drawn to each other and need each other if they are to get out of this alive.  It seems Bertone has people everywhere.  Can they get Bertone before he gets them?

INNOCENT AS SIN is a fast paced, suspense-filled thriller.  Readers will be on the edge of their seats as they follow this tale of danger, deception, intrigue, vengeance and romance.  The characters are so realistic they seem to leap off the page.  This is the first novel I have read by this author and it has made me a fan, even though I no longer have fingernails after reading this story.  I place INNOCENT AS SIN high on my ‘recommended read’ list and look forward to her new book BLUE SMOKE AND MURDER.
