A failed marriage coincides with her grandmother's death, so Nickie Grace decides to take some time to update the house before she sells it. The time alone should give her time to regroup and move on with her life, but during her first night in town she has to call the police when someone tried to break into her house.

Sexy deputy Hank Crossman answers the call but he wants to investigate Nicky a lot more than some petty vandals. Hank’s a guy with a lot of ghosts clinging to him. A basically good man, Hank is also the son of alcoholics and his childhood was borderline abusive. When the one friend he has dies tragically, Hanks joins the Marines and it’s only recently he’s returned to his hometown. Hank is not into relationships but he’s into Nickie Grace. He wants her anyway he can get her and when she acquires a stalker, Hank’s willing to do more than his duty to protect the body he’s lusting after.

When Nickie’s stalker escalates to more violent and perverted, Hank’s investigation takes a new turn and he’s not sure what’s in more danger- Nickie or his heart.

Hank is the kind of guy every woman wants: tough, sexy, protective and basically good-hearted. Nickie’s a woman finding her way back from a bad marriage but she’s got guts. This is no whining female. Together, the two are compelling characters and Quinn has created a suspenseful story that’s going to keep readers turning the sizzling pages long into the night.
