Wesley Webb races to win. Does he want it bad enough to kill for it? When his rival is found dead after beating Wesley in their most recent race, the police think Wesley may just have a motive. On top of dealing with being under suspicion, his ex, Caitlyn, is hanging around. She's a walking reminder of a past he'd rather forget. Worse yet, she is the one woman who knows all about his tragic past and now she's a journalist and wants to do a story on him.

Caitlyn is not happy with her boss right now. Of all the assignments he could send her on, he asks her to do a story on the only man she's ever loved. Somehow he thinks Caitlyn will succeed in getting a story, despite the fact that no one else ever has. It hurts Caitlyn that Wesley no longer seems to trust her. She repeatedly tells him that she won't print anything he doesn't want known, but he's too afraid that she'll expose him. Will Caitlyn and Wesley be able to overcome their past mistakes and rekindle the love they once shared?

Soon Caitlyn and Wesley are surrounded by lies and betrayal. They find they're not the only ones who want the past to stay there. But someone else is willing to resort to murder. Who can they trust when it appears no one is who they seem?

HOLDING FAST from Emma Sanders is a terrific story of reunited lovers. Wesley and Caitlyn are great characters and you really want to see them work things out. Both of them were hurt by the mistakes they made; both of them blame themselves for what happened. Now they are grown-ups, and it's time for them to settle their past if they hope to have any chance of figuring out what's happening today.

The secondary characters are just as engaging. Caitlyn's best friend, Rayma, is an invaluable resource throughout the story. The mystery aspect keeps you turning the pages to find out what's going to happen and who's behind it all. The answers may surprise you.
