Chloe Carter is studying for a career in social work while working part-time for her parents’ landscaping business. A food lover, it’s only fitting that she is dating a chef. Things begin to unravel when she accompanies him on a reality TV shoot to try to win his own TV show.

The producer of the show is being overly selective over which shopper is chosen for the chance to have a meal prepared in their home by Josh. Finally one is chosen and the crew and contestants purchase the ingredients for the gourmet meal.

When the meal is finally prepared, the producer causes so many delays, the food is cold when it reaches the table. And then the real trouble begins. The shopper’s wife begins complaining about the food and no one can figure out why. Shortly after, she becomes deathly ill and passes away as Chloe looks on, unable to help. It’s up to Chloe to find out what happened to the victim and who did it while planning a wedding for her very pregnant best friend.

Chloe’s world is filled with wonderful characters who pop off of the page. The plot is taut and highly believable and you hurt right along with Chloe as she discovers Josh is hiding secrets from her. This is a fun read and any cozy mystery reader will enjoy solving the whodunit with Chloe.
