Growing up with a verbally abusive father, Mary Walsh has no self-esteem.  Due to her father, she feels that she is not worth loving, substituting food for love, and as a result, Mary gained weight.  She still constantly hears her father’s voice, telling her she is no good, despite the therapy she has been through.  In addition, she loves reading romance novels, using them to escape her real life, and even memorizing parts of her favorite novels. The father that she thought had died fifteen years earlier suddenly shows up…dead for the second time.  Therapy has helped her get beyond her past to an extent, but having her father show up again has not helped.  A librarian at twenty-nine, she decides it is time she gets beyond her past and really starts her life.  Having lost weight, she purchased a new wardrobe and is attending a librarian’s conference, where she hopes to meet a wonderful stranger who will introduce her to the joys of womanhood.

Jake Pierson, an FBI Special Agent, had been married, but he lost his wife and unborn child a few years ago, in a car accident.  He blames himself for their deaths. His mother died when he was young, and he was raised by a subversive father, who tried to make his son just like him.  But Jake was determined to be nothing like his father, so he got away from his father as soon as he could.

Jake is just starting his mission and there has already been a foul up; the informant he was supposed to meet, Mary’s father, turned up dead, before he was able to give Jake any information.  With the help of his partner in Seattle, Jake has frantically put together another plan. Getting ready to start this plan, he knows the first step is to get acquainted with Mary Marsh well enough to play the part of her boyfriend, so she can introduce him to her family and friends in the small town of Honey Creek.  Seeing her, he feels strongly attracted and figures that pretending a romantic relationship with her won’t be hard at all.  But always in the back of his mind is his mantra; the mission always comes first.

At the bar, he introduces himself and encourages her to drink, so he can get some information from her.  When the bar closes, he helps her to her room, where they share a sizzling kiss.  But the wine gets to her and she vomits right in front of him, all over her new clothes. Jake takes care of her and sits by her bed during the night, watching over her.  When she awakens having nightmares, his comfort soon turns to something hotter. Though he tries to back off from her advances, the attraction is too strong so they spend the night together and he, guiltily, discovers he is her first.

As they spend time together, they begin to fall in love, but he still has not told her the truth about his identity.  Mary knows he is hiding something, and although Jake wants to tell her the truth, he can’t until he completes his mission.  By the time he levels with her, will it be too late?  In addition, someone is trying to kill Jake, and they do not care if Mary gets in the way.  Can he finish his mission before he gets both of them killed?

Sizzling hot, COVERT AGENT’S VIRGIN AFFAIR is a sensual, action-packed romantic suspense that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next.  With Mary’s weight problem and her low self-esteem, she has buried herself in books with no social life, so now she is very naïve and trusting for her age.  But having had a liar for a father, she is determined to be honest with Jake.  Knowing how honest she is makes it hard for Jake, as he is sure she will not forgive him for the lies he has told her.  Brimming with emotions, well-drawn characters, misunderstandings, suspense, danger, an exciting plot and sizzling hot love scenes, COVERT AGENT’S VIRGIN AFFAIR is unforgettable, an intriguing story that will leave you wanting more, despite the great ending.
