Tanty's nephew, Sheriff Rene "Bubba" Theriot, is the first on the scene. While Tara LeBlanc insists Tanty was attacked, he dismisses Tara's claim. But when Tara's grandmother falls into a coma, like Tanty, he begins to suspect Tara might be right. The women have only one thing in common--voodoo. Unfortunately, it's a bond Tara shares with them. The more time Bubba spends with Tara the more he feels an attraction for her, but he hesitates because she is involved in voodoo. Tara also feels something for Bubba, but his Christian beliefs make her wary. As Bubba gets closer to her, Tara begins questioning all she holds sacred, could she be wrong?
Robin Caroll's BAYOU PARADOX is a wonderful read. It was difficult to put this one down. It is beautifully written. Do keep some tissues on hand. If you've read Ms. Caroll's other books, BAYOU JUSTICE, BAYOU CORRUPTION, and BAYOU JUDGEMENT, you already know Tara and Bubba as secondary characters. Regardless, Tara is a heroine you immediately bond with and Bubba is the nice guy who finally gets his happy ending.
