After her high school graduation, Alyssa LeBlanc left the Bayou and her voodoo practicing family behind. Having been with her parents in the fiery crash that left Alyssa and her two sisters orphaned, Alyssa tries to escape the dreams that haunt her. As an investigative reporter, her goal is to work at the same paper where her mother was a photojournalist, but that goal has remained elusively out of reach. She returns to the bayou after she learns of her grandmother's heart attack and immediately gets involved in a crime investigation. Forced to remain in the area until the case is resolved, she begins to work with rival reporter Jackson Devereaux. 

Jackson arrived in the area to help his frat buddy, Sheriff Bubba Theriot,  investigate a suspected smuggling operation in the bayou. When Alyssa LeBlanc finds Bubba shot, beaten, and left for dead in the middle of the road, Jackson is suddenly a person of interest in the investigation. He must work with Alyssa, who doesn't seem to like him at all, to uncover the mystery behind the attack. But why is Alyssa so defensive?  Jackson has yet another mystery to solve, because now that he's found this incredible woman he isn't ready to let her go.

Once again Robin Caroll doesn't disappoint her readers. BAYOU CORRUPTION is a fast-paced, nail-biter and will keep you guessing until the last chapter. While this is a stand alone book, be sure to check out the others in the Bayou Series. Alyssa and Jackson are  a well-matched pair who have a natural chemistry from their first meeting.  Also embedded is the message of Jackson's unwaivering faith that won't allow him to give up on either his friend, Bubba or Alyssa.  His prayers and strength help Alyssa finally find her own faith so she can recover from the devastating accident that has become so much a part of her life.
