Joam is a mechanic working for Higgs’ Auto Repair.  His employer is anything but kind and Joam’s home is a small room in the back of the garage complete with a cot, a calendar of a half-naked cowgirl and a grimy bathroom.  He has dreams though, and his dreams include a half-naked cowboy coming to whisk him away from his crappy life, a life Joam must keep secret.

Blake’s car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and as luck would have it, he has to walk to the nearest town dressed in short cutoffs, a midriff shirt and red cowboy boots.  However, when he enters town he meets a young mechanic whom he solicits to help him.

There’s an instant attraction between the two men and after a night of passion their world caves in on them.  Higgs is part of an evil group of sorcerers who seek out Gregor Walsh, a powerful vernal, for a special sacrifice to complete their ritual.  To Higgs, it was in Joam’s best interest to remain a virgin, but as soon as Higgs finds out that Joam has slept with Blake, he intends to make them pay.

I enjoyed reading Jessica Freely’s VIRGIN.  Joam and Blake are interesting characters who capture the reader from the beginning.  Steamy sex heats up the pages when Joam and Blake get together and the plot twists and turns take the reader on a journey alongside the characters.  I didn’t want the story to end.  VIRGIN is a book not to be missed.
