Ever since he sacrificed himself to save his lover Maen has been living a strange and unfulfilling existence. Branded a traitor he is denied a position as a warrior. His sole purpose has been to please his Mistress and to prepare her soldiers for the upcoming battle to determine who will become the next Queen.  A battle that Maen’s Mistress is determined to win at any cost. Maen knows his Mistress is a selfish and vicious woman but he must do what he can to ensure her victory.

The battle is long and bloody but in the end Seleste’s army is victorious and she is crowned Queen. Maen suddenly finds himself with no official position in the household and nothing to do but wait for his mistress to call him to her side. There was a time when he would have asked for nothing more from his life but now he is resigned to living a lonely and unsatisfying existence.

However, a series of events are about to unfold that lead Maen to discover the whereabouts of information so shocking that it could change the future of his world forever.

I looked forward to reading TWISTED BRAND the sequel to THE GOLD WARRIOR with great anticipation and I wasn’t disappointed!  I really enjoyed the addition of a few new characters and getting to know some of the returning characters better. The plot is filled with intriguing twists and turns. Maen is still as captivating as ever. I really liked the way his character continues to develop throughout this story. There is still a lot for him to learn and I was delighted to continue his journey with him. Clare London has written a compelling and very exciting sequel.
