Evangeline ‘Evy’ Stone is a star bounty hunter, hunting the dregs of society, vampires, shape-shifters, goblins, trolls…all the murderous creatures that live in the shadows and prey on humans.  She is part of a triad, three Dreg Hunters who make up a team, and their Handler is Wyatt, who is deeply in love with Evangeline.

When Evy awoke, she was nude and lying on a cold mortician’s slab, surrounded by surgical instruments and autopsy paraphernalia.  The shrill screaming she heard was coming from the medical examiner, who had been ready to perform an autopsy on her.  Evy was not sure how she got there or how long she has been there.  Additionally, her body was no longer her own.  Evy was younger, with a pale complexion, short blonde hair, no freckles and a boyish figure.  Now she is tall with long brown hair, a smattering of freckles, a curvaceous body and track marks inside her left elbow.  The last thing she remembers is going to meet her Handler Wyatt Truman, but he never arrived.

When she tried to stand, she fell since her body was still stiff.  According to the examiner, the body she inhabits belongs to Chalice Frost.  Checking around the office, she found that Chalice was twenty-seven years old and living in the last nice neighborhood.  Evy later found that Chalice had been engaged and she had committed suicide.  What Evy can remember is that the other two members of her triad were dead, and she was accused of turning rogue and killing them.  Since she needed to hide out, the Owlkins, a peaceful race of shape-shifting birds of prey, gave her refuge.  In payment for helping her out, the Hunters killed the whole clan while looking for her.  She had decided to turn herself in to keep anyone else from being killed, but what happened after that she could not remember.

Now, a fugitive, Evy is trying to piece together just what happened to her.  Someone paid to have her reincarnated…a very costly procedure.  She discovered that she only has three days to solve her own murder.  After three days, she will die again, but this time it will be final.

THREE DAYS TO DEAD, the first book in the DREG CITY series, is a fast paced, action-packed romantic suspense that I could not put down.  I stayed up half of the night to finish the book, anxious to see what happens next.  Author Kelly Meding has penned an exciting, spellbinding and imaginative debut and, in the process, she has made me a fan of her work.  She grabbed my attention from the very first sentence and did not let go until the very end.  Brimming with imagination, creativity, a gripping plot, well-drawn characters and magic, this book is unforgettable.   As I eagerly await the next book in this series, AS LIE THE DEAD, to see what Evy is up to next, be sure to grab your own copy of THREE DAYS TO DEAD.  You won’t regret it!
