Over time the unions between vampires and humans have produced highly intelligent and capable offspring which are referred to as Drakhoms.  They’re practically indistinguishable from humans most of the time.  The only exceptions are the ones with ebony eyes and beautiful black hair.  They’re considered exotic and have a reputation for having an insatiable sexual appetite.

While many human women specifically set out to snag an exotic because of the wild sexual encounters, Kate Randall is frightened by them.  Her fear doesn’t stem from the high sex drive, it’s because Drakhoms possess sharp incisors that can aid in their pleasuring a woman.

Tanton Manning, owner of Beacon Advertising, has hired K & E Ergonomics, the company Kate started with her cousin Ellen.  Because Ellen’s current project requires an extra day, Kate agrees to fill in for her at the meeting with Tanton.  Right away she realizes that this man is beyond gorgeous and her body goes on high alert.  Fortunately she can use the excuse that he’s a client to avoid becoming involved with him.  However, that excuse will only last so long – and certainly isn’t going to deter a determined Drakhom.

After reading so many vampire stories I’d been under the impression that vampires either couldn’t procreate or only give birth to ‘vampire babies.’ Celia Jade’s take on the offspring of sexual encounters between humans and vampires is refreshing and fun as well as downright sexy.  Tanton and Kate’s relationship is memorable simply because of her fear of Drakhoms.  There’s no simple conquest here, Tanton has to work to make her feel comfortable with him.  DRAKHOM TABOO is a fast paced short story that is as captivating because of Ms. Jade’s creative outlook as it is stimulating due to the burgeoning romance between the characters.
