The Christmas Dragon

Shattered by her sister’s death, Maggie Konrad escapes to her winter cabin to spend her first Christmas alone. Her intentions are to renew her own joy in life and then spend the day opening gifts from her friends. Her plans are turned topsy-turvy the first night when she is awakened by a horrendous crash outside.

When Sahn-Tah Kelas, otherwise known to humans as Santa Claus, decides to take his wife on their long overdue honeymoon, Syrus is called upon to take Santa’s place and make the Christmas Eve deliveries. But even for a dragon, making deliveries world wide is exhausting, which causes Syrus to crash in a remote forest.

Maggie rescues Syrus but fears he is certifiably insane when he insists that he is a dragon. Finally, she kicks him out of her cabin but not before she captures his heart. Back at the North Pole, the Elves are mortified that a human spotted Syrus and they insist he go back and erase Maggie’s memory. But when he returns, he has to have her just once.

But even after he makes her forget him, his own heart is still entranced. It is only when he goes to the Naughty and Nice room that he discovers how shattered Maggie is. He decides to give the woman he loves the most magical Christmas ever.

Ms. Grace’s writing has such depth that Maggie’s pain leaps off of the page and has the reader wanting her to be happy as much as Syrus does. Syrus is one of the dreamiest heroes ever written, leaving me entranced by how much he loved Maggie. This is a classic Christmas love story that should be re-read year after year.
