The Christmas Angel

Angelique, a Christmas angel tree topper, is in pain. For over two hundred years she has been cursed and reduced to being a family heirloom, only coming out once a year to be placed on the top of the Christmas tree. Her body is lifeless, but she can still see, hear, and feel emotions just like a real person. This year, things are different. Angelique is being allowed to be human again--the curse hasn't been broken, only slightly altered. In order for her to have her freedom, she must entrap the last Berringer heir and make him fall in love with her. Thus, when he falls in love with her, and slips an engagement ring on her finger, he will be the new Christmas angel tree topper instead of Angelique.

Nicholas Berringer is startled awake by a loud crash. When he runs into his living room to investigate, he comes face to face with an angel. A beautiful blond, white gowned winged angel. One that can see into his heart and knows his inner secrets, and wishes of a family so that he won't be so alone. Concerned for her, he offers her the use of his guest bedroom and finds himself checking on her, desiring her, but realizing that he can't have her. So the avoid being hurt, he leaves her alone. There is just one problem, Angelique wants Nick just as badly, and leaves the loneliness of her bedroom to search for him. Passions ignite and they make love. Only Angelique knows what morning will bring. Can she honestly sacrifice Nick for her freedom?

THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL is full of emotions. As I sat reading, it enthralled me with the passion and need of both characters. I fully understood Angelique's desire to be human; I felt her love for Nick, as well as her heartache over the decisions she has to make. Nick was just lovable, although his pain from losing his mother interfered with his happiness. I could feel his complete joy and love for Angelique.

THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL was a most wonderful story. It makes you believe in miracles, laugh, cry and then shout for joy. Since this is the first book I have read from Ms. Opal Carew, I look forward to reading more of her books.
