Jane Margaux did not have a very happy childhood.  Her mother, Vivienne, is a famous Broadway producer who doesn’t have time to look after Jane.  In fact, Vivienne seems to love to go to Tiffany’s more than her own daughter.  Her father has a new wife and her stepfather is one step out the door.  Jane’s only solace is Michael.  He is never to busy too talk, eat or hug Jane but there’s only one small problem.  Michael is her imaginary friend.  When he has to leave for another assignment following Jane’s traumatic ninth birthday, Michael hopes that she will soon forget him.  However, he never expected that Jane would not only remember him but immortalize their relationship in a two person play.  Will these two ever have the chance to reconnect now that Jane is a grown woman who still needs her special friend?

SUNDAYS AT TIFFANY’S is a heartwarming tale of one lonely girl’s relationship with her imaginary friend.  Jane has always been excess baggage.  Her mother only remembers her when it’s convenient and her boyfriend can’t seem to remember her at all.  I felt bad for her.  However, when chance brings Jane and Michael back together at the St. Regis, their favorite childhood place, Jane started to change.  She stopped being the proverbial doormat and became her own woman.  She gained confidence and started to see herself as her own person and no longer in her mother’s shadow.  Michael is a good soul who is overwhelmed by his feelings for Jane and the changes she brings into his own life.  There are so many questions as to why Michael is back in Jane’s life but overall, it is a heartfelt, sweet story that made me think that love can transcend even the most difficult boundaries.  SUNDAYS AT TIFFANY’S is a wonderful read for those who have faith in love and happiness.
