I found Judith to be a strong heroine. She is an elemental with the power to transmit her feelings to other people. She has become closed off from the world and tries to cut off all emotion so that she can not hurt anyone. She pours what emotion she does have into her art. Judith is hiding from her ex-boyfriend who turned out to be a criminal mastermind. Her struggle with her powers and trusting Stefan are what really brought the story to life for me. Her relationship with her sisters was what I connected with most with the story. The love she felt for them reminded me of my relationship with my sister.
With Stefan I found his past to be extremely tragic and intoxicating. Watching him grow from a cold killer to the man who wanted to be with Judith was a pleasure. The relationship between Judith and Stefan felt very fulfilling, and it had its fair share of problems. The problems that the couple had helped to ground them to reality, and it thrilled me that they worked through it all to make their love stronger.
Christine Feehan has done a wonderful job bringing me into this story and making it real to me, even though it had fantasy aspects. This book proves again why she is one of my favorite authors. I recommend this book to any paranormal, suspense and romance fan.
