Since Jack refused to work on their latest case, Pete Caldecott finds herself sitting in the cemetery all alone at night, wishing that she could be home with Jack and Lilly instead of where she currently is. She is at the cemetery to help an old squad member, Brandi, out. Recently, a ghost named Mickey Martin has been terrorizing people and Brandi had a run-in with him while out on call. Pete is a little unprepared for Mickey when he turns out to be a wraith instead of the ghost she was hoping to put down.

Pete is still equipped to deal with him and she does with reluctance, but the fun does not end there. After Brandi leaves, five strange figures approach her to extend an invitation to a gathering of the Prometheus Club. The leader warns Pete not to refuse the invitation, but she does so regardless. Unfortunately, curiosity gets the better of Pete, and she opens the invitation to read it. That is how she discovers that there was a compulsion spell put on the invitation and if she does not attend the meeting, she will die. Trouble only escalates from there, and it is up to Pete this time to keep a level head if she wants to survive what is to come.
I am a big fan of author Caitlin Kittredge. Her NOCTURNE CITY series is unbelievably good so when I heard about her BLACK LONDON series, I hurried out to find book one, STREET MAGIC. I did not stop there and continued to read the rest of the series, DEMON BOUND, BONE GODS, DEVIL'S BUSINESS and the latest, SOUL TRADE. Each book in Ms. Kittredge's BLACK LONDON series have been page-turners. The action in SOUL TRADE picks up almost from the beginning, and I really enjoyed the chemistry that just continues to blossom between Pete and Jack. I cannot wait to read Ms. Kittredge's next novel.
