A deal with Death is the best thing she can think of, especially when she finds him eyeing her body with desire in his eyes.
Cain is a death dealer, the General of the Death squadron actually. His job is to come in, take lives and let the released souls pass on to Heaven, or Hell. But Sara Lane ignites something in him. Once a man, Cain feels a strange tug at his frozen heart when Sara pleads with him for a deal. Before he can realize, he grants her what she wishes for – stealing her soul in the process because said soul is the property of Heaven once Death has done his job.
The Heavens do not appreciate this act of rebellion, and they will stop at nothing to grab Sara’s soul back from Cain. Demons are unleashed, and Cain and Sara find themselves both on the run.
Suddenly, Death finds himself protecting Life, a strange situation indeed. And when the man inside the Death General rears his head up, neither Cain nor Sara can prevent the love that blossoms between them.
But they are both existing on borrowed time. Sara’s soul will have to cross over, and Cain knows there is retribution coming his way.
How can they emerge the victor? Can they even win, when Heaven is hell-bent on separating them?
