Snowbound: Captive Heat

Darci Watson, Olympic gold medallist from Sydney, Australia is determined to win a bet she wagered with the U.S. silver medal winner Crystal Jamieson.  The bet involves jumping from a helicopter at 7,000 feet with nothing more than a pair of skis and poles and racing down Mount Saint Elias to a specific destination.

As Darci’s racing down the mountain envisioning Crystal’s expression when she wins something completely unexpected happens – she slowed up by a hole in the slope.  She finds herself in an ice cavern and the hole she fell through is too high for her to escape through.  Imagine her surprise when she hears a man’s voice and discovers that even though he should be freezing he’s naked.  She figures she’s having a psychotic episode and he’s completely made up – after all, no real live man should ever be this gorgeous! 

As she’ll soon discover, he’s very real but he’s not exactly human.  He’d picked the most isolated place he could find in order to avoid being around a female when the rutting cycle hits, but it’s too late to run now.  Darci’s here, warm-blooded and more than willing.  Will she be able to accept the beast that lurks just beneath his human façade? 

Lexxie Couper entices readers to leave their nice safe existence behind and go in search of a snow cavern and hunk of their own.  Darci’s acceptance of a dare leads her to unexpected pleasures and a man so unique she’s almost positive she could have only conjured him up in her imagination.  Darci doesn’t win her bet but what she gets is so much more satisfying it’s well worth losing. 

CAPTIVE HEAT is one of the many short stories in Changeling Press’s SNOWBOUND line which released in early 2007.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to read any of them I’d suggest picking up a few-or all of them.  Of the ones I’ve read so far, they’re quite interesting and well, pretty dang hot!
