Shawna Rawley has always known her birth origins, conceived by her witch mother during her love affair with a vampire. Upon a failed turning, her mother leaves the vampire, who is unaware of the pregnancy, while she struggles to stay alive until after the birth. Shortly after Shawna is born, her mother passes away and leaves her to be raised by her magically endowed grandparents. Her biological father, Pentim Rawley, discovers he has a daughter. He doesn’t know who Shawna is, but he is determined to find her. If he can locate and turn her, the evil vampire will have unimaginable power at his disposal. Knowing that he is looking for her, Shawna runs in hopes of keeping her grandparents safe.

Chadwick MacFare is an immortal who’s kept everyone but his family at arms' length. He has carefully guarded his emotions and heart while engaging in the scattered one night stands and loose relationships with women over the years. Yet his gift of visions has a particular blonde constantly popping up… a blonde he is becoming bewitched by. He knows her to be the daughter of one of the most evil vampires in existence. Chad is tired of letting Pentim run rampantly out of control and decides it’s time to put an end to him as well as gain revenge for an unforgivable act that Pentim committed against his family years ago. Through his visions he is aware that Pentim is searching for Shawna, and it’s only a matter of time until he finds her.

Chad sees this as the perfect opportunity to set a trap for Pentim. He will use Shawna to draw him out, even as he vows to keep her safe from harm. Shawna is as frustrated as she is attracted to the infuriating man who waltzes into her life and demands that she turn over her care to him. She has never depended on a man for help and isn’t keen on starting – especially with one who skirts around giving any information about himself. Yet as Chad proves to be reliable she finds herself glad of his persistence in protecting her. Chad comes to realize that she is fast becoming the most important thing in his life. Now he can not fail at his goal of destroying Pentim.  

SHADOWLOVE-STALKERS is a sexy paranormal romance that is a good start in what seems to be a promising new series. Author Claudy Conn has written an exceptional story with her own twist about the origin of the vampire. I found the whole back story of Dracula’s existence and the tie-in to the story quite fascinating, and I hope to learn even more as the series progresses. She does a great job on character dynamics. While the hero, Chad, was quite an attention grabber, I found myself drawn to the secondary character, Damon. I loved his mysterious air and wit. I am so looking forward to his upcoming story.
