Indigo Riviere is a lieutenant in the SnowDancer pack. She is extremely intelligent, strong, and a great resource to pack leader, Hawke. She is a woman to admire and Drew Kincaid definitely admires her. Drew wants to stake a claim on Indigo, make her acknowledge the growing heat between them, but she is very resistant. Can he use his wily charms to win her over?

Indigo may want to sleep with Drew but she also knows that anything else, any kind of bond, would only harm the pack. Indigo is a dominant female and she fears that mating with Drew would make her weak, that he would press his will upon hers. Unfortunately, Indigo has witnessed a very bad example of two dominants mating and she does not want that kind of relationship for herself. But Drew is persistent. He is kind, utterly charming, but also ruthless as he pursues her.

In the background of their ongoing relationship is the threat of Pure Psy, as it tries harder than ever to demoralize and hurt the changeling pack. Indigo and Drew are on the hunt for the conspirators but it is a battle that is being played out on many levels. These two need to be able to rely on each other again, one hundred percent, or risk not only hurting each other but getting the pack physically hurt in the process.

Nalini Singh ratchets up the tension between the Psy and the Changelings once again in PLAY OF PASSION. New games are afoot but fortunately, the SnowDancers are a smart pack and do not make irrational decisions when it comes to the Psy. But the danger is still there and Drew and Indigo, due to their high level rank in the pack, are in the thick of things.

I absolutely love Nalini Singh’s female characters and Indigo ranks right up there. Here is a woman who is strong as hell but also very vulnerable. She knows when to admit she made mistakes; she is willing to take risks, and once she has decided on something, or someone in this case, she puts her heart and soul into that decision. There are no regrets with Indigo.

Drew is known as a very playful member of the pack but make no mistake, he is deadly also. His charm and humor balances Indigo’s more realistic nature, but she equally balances him when he pushes closer to the edge of his feral wolf. They create such a great equilibrium in the book.

PLAY OF PASSION lives up to its title in the best way. It is a great combination of playful courtship and passionate falling in love. Drew and Indigo take strides in making their relationship work. The hard work that goes into falling in love is echoed beautifully by the hope that love brings to a couple. Nalini Singh, just, WOW.
