Planet of the Veils

When young Prince Norquer turned one, a Priest uttered a chilling prophecy that caused the young Queen to flee her husband and take her son into hiding. Growing up with a stepfather who trained Norquer to be a warrior and conqueror, he learned all the skills he needed to avenge the wrongs of his childhood and kill his uncle, the usurper King. The second part of the prophecy involves marrying the dead King's virgin wife, but Belayla will not be easy to handle. Thinking to keep his intended bride safe, Norquer sends her to the Planet of Veils while he puts his new Kingdom in order. The Mistress there is supposed to keep Belayla safe, and gently teach her the sensual ways of the bedroom. When Norquer finds out what really goes on in Mistress Donestra's lessons, he turns his revenge towards a new goal, while trying to make his mistake up to Belayla.
PLANET OF THE VEILS has a great back-story that I would love to see be made into its own book. Because of this background, Norquer becomes the hero that we see. He is the perfect hero - strong, mysterious, caring, and fierce. The pacing in the second half of the book is intense, and had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation. Once I realized who the true hero and heroine were, I enjoyed watching their feelings toward one another change, as they overcome obstacles to be together. This book is not for the fainthearted; it contains f/f scenes, whipping, and forced sex. PLANET OF THE VEILS was a nice read, and I will be looking for more books by Sultry Summers in the future.
This book has been rereleased through Whiskey Creek Press.
