Percy is having a great deal of trouble with his studies. If only his tutor weren’t so strong and handsome perhaps he’d be able to concentrate. When Mr. Thatcher notices his charges distraction he does what he can to help alleviate it. Percy is delighted when his tutor begins offering lessons of a more sensual nature. The two men thoroughly enjoy their time together but soon it is time for Percy to go to university and he and William must say goodbye.

Percy is looking forward to the adventure of going away to school. He is also hoping to find another man who enjoys the same types of arousing activities that he does. On his very first day of classes he manages to get on the wrong side of his mathematical theories professor and earn himself detention in record time.

Percy and Alistair soon realize that they have much more in common than they initially realized. The two men quickly realize that they share similar urges and desires. They agree to indulge themselves whenever possible but they must be careful to keep their relationship a secret. Percy soon comes to care for his lover but Alastair stoic personality often leaves him feeling used and perplexed. As the months go by and he and Alistair become closer Percy is able to see the depth of emotion that the other man feels for him. Percy and Alistair long to be together forever but how can a humble professor and a peer of the realm maintain a permanent relationship?

ONCE IN A LIFETIME is a companion piece to Jade Falconer’s earlier novel GHOST OF A CHANCE. Anyone who has read GHOST OF A CHANCE knows how this story is destined to end. This knowledge doesn’t takeaway from the charm and romance of the novel at al, in fact it added romance and emotion to the story. I found Percy’s story interesting. I appreciated that despite the era in which he grew up he assumed his right to find love and be happy. He never stopped believing that he and Alistair could share a life together. Alistair is also intriguing because he seems hard but as Percy discovered when one looks closely you can see how much he cares. Their relationship is spicy and extremely loving.
