Things haven't exactly been smelling like roses for Angie McCaffrey, but things are hopefully about to change. Since her boss is absent, Angie is given a chance to step in and do actual work with some prospective clients. The clients in question are owners of a cosmetics line for those living the vampire lifestyle, as they like to call it. With a name like Macabre Factor their cosmetics are sure to sell and all Angie has to do is give them great advertising. To get a better feel of what they are looking for, Angie is invited to a private nightclub called House of Usher, where she is to speak with them and gather information. Excitement does not even begin to cover how Angie is feeling when she walks into the club and it triples when she meets a friend of her new client, Eric Taylor. His is not a face she will soon be forgetting.

Back at the office, Angie is given even more responsibilities and accounts to handle. She already has her hands full and now she cannot locate the files she is looking for. Angie heads over to her boss's house hoping to find them there and nothing could have prepared her for what happened next. She first has a strange encounter with a coworker and then they both discover her boss dead and apparently bled dry. To make matters worse, she suspects the man she is coming to have real feelings for, Eric, is involved. The deeper she gets, the more she puts herself in danger. Will the answers she is seeking be what she wants to hear?

Clare Willis's debut book, ONCE BITTEN is a delightful read. A quick read that will have readers hanging onto every last word. ONCE BITTEN had me in suspense almost from the very beginning. I never knew what to expect next. Angie is an intelligent, gutsy and intriguing businesswoman and could not have been a better match for Eric. They truly make a dynamic duo and the passion between them steamed right off the pages. Ms. Willis is sure to be a hit with paranormal romance readers. I would recommend this book to anyone I know. I look forward to reading Ms. Willis's next novel.
