Sarkany isn’t your typical businessman. Sure he’s wealthy, handsome, smart and wickedly driven, but he’s also a dragon masquerading as a man.  There’s nothing he likes more than treasure and challenge and Miss Miranda Benson is proving to be not just a beauty but an unexpected delight since she refuses to pander to his whims.

Miranda has major issues with Sarkany.  The so called improvements he’s made to the area have destroyed the way of life she’s enjoyed and forced many of her friends to have to leave.  Now apparently her attempts at pissing him off have worked because he’s come for her.  She just never expected for him to be so - well, mesmerizing.

Miranda’s hatred of the changes Sarkany has made in her community led her to joining the guild, a group of people dedicated to ridding the world of dragons and the devastation they cause.  While Sarkany could simply squash Miranda’s harassment he’s become bored and relishes the thought of ‘winning her to his side.’   Miranda proves herself to be a worthy opponent when she issues him a challenge.  Sarkany is to give away his entire hoard - money, buildings, possessions, everything in order to prove that he’s more than a simple greedy human.  If he fails then he must leave the city and never return - but if he succeeds then Miranda is to become his personal possession, his finest treasure.

As Miranda soon comes to care for Sarkany and realizes that he isn’t the monster the guild’s made him out to be.  Falling in love with him wasn’t part of her plan and Sarkany certainly never wanted her to care for him - after all if she’s compliant then where’s the challenge?  Is there any chance a human and dragon can find more than sexual satisfaction in his lair?

KNIGHT’S CHALLENGE is an enjoyable read which captured my interest on several different levels.  I was fascinated by Sarkany’s cunning and how he seems to evolve emotionally during the time he’s in Miranda’s company.  Miranda’s headstrong and a real delight because of her genuine love for people and the community.  Summer Devon weaves a tale that titillates and inspires while at the same time gives you something to think about – just because Sarkany’s different, does that make him any better or worse than anyone else?  If you love dragon stories then you just might find KNIGHT’S CHALLENGE is just the book to satisfy some of those naughty fantasies.
