The experimentation done on children was inhuman in more ways than one. The results were vampire-like creatures and one oddity, Beth. In hiding since the facilities' unwilling patients unleashed their vengeance on their captors, and escaped, Beth has learned to live with her powers and cravings under the radar.
Ms. Langlais once again entertains the living daylights out of the reader, as she does with all her novels. Beth is an irreverent delight.
A creature that shouldn't exist, Beth is proud to be a hybrid misfit. When she is rescued by a tall blond hunk who is immune to her allure and "dang it" treats her like a lady, Beth isn't sure what to think. Simon, tall blond and sinfully gorgeous and Gene, his best friendwith a shaved head, piercings, wicked eyes, and a goatee, are supernatural creatures who call to her emotionally and set her hormones humming. They accept her as she is and make Beth think that it might just be possible for her to be in a relationship and not have to hide who she is.
Unfortunately, the rest of the supernatural community see Beth as an abomination, and are intent on ending her existence. What's a hybrid misfit to do?
