American Colleen Playfair, a wolf shifter, recently inherited a Scottish castle and is determined to claim it. In order to solidify her right to the castle, she must travel to Scotland and stay there for a year and a day. If she fails to stay for that period of time, the castle will revert to her cousins.

Grant MacQuarrie, the oldest of a set of triplets, is the laird of his clan and the manager at the castle that Colleen just inherited. His family has been managing the estate for generations successfully, but while her father owned it, his year and a day stay resulted in arguments and the death of Grant’s parents. Thinking that she is like her father, Grant wants nothing more than for Colleen to leave. So he conspires with his brothers, hoping to scare her off. He even asks the laird of a neighboring clan, Ian, to help him.

But what Grant does not know is that Colleen and Julia, Ian’s wife, are best friends and Julia has already warned Colleen about some of the plans the men have made. As a royal female werewolf, Colleen has the ability to change at will and has already survived two beta mates. Will she be able to handle what Grant has in store for her, even with advance warning?

Raised by a stern father, who resented his own mother for the attention she paid to Grant and his brothers, Colleen was told that her grandmother did not want to meet her. So Colleen stayed away, but now she discovers the extent her grandmother went to in order to keep track of her granddaughter. Colleen is already upset with her father for telling her the lie that Grant and his men are human, not wolves. The additional deception about her grandmother devastates her, especially since it has cost her the chance to meet her grandmother, who asked for Colleen from her deathbed.

As Colleen reconnects with her family roots, the battle of wills and wits between Grant and Colleen escalates, but as the sparks fly between them, things soon turn intimate. However, someone has other plans for Colleen which do not include Grant. Can they outwit this villain? Can two alphas, like Grant and Colleen, find long lasting happiness together?

A fun read, HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF, the fourteenth book in best-selling, award-winning author Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF series, is a witty, sexy paranormal romance that will have readers laughing out loud. I love watching Grant and Colleen butt heads, each trying to get the better of the other while struggling with the undeniable chemistry between them. The opening scene is hilarious and I could not turn the pages fast enough as I consumed the story in less than a day. In fact, I hated to see this delightful tale end.

I am a huge fan of Ms. Spear’s work and especially enjoy her sexy kilt-wearing wolves. She is my go to author for great shape-shifter romance. Packed with a bevy of hot Scots, werewolves, a castle, secrets, murder, intrigue, romance and the love of a lifetime, this book is not to be missed! Although this is the fourteenth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. But be prepared, Ms. Spear’s work can be addictive! After reading this one, I am sure you will seek out the rest. If you are looking for a great paranormal story with plenty of heat, loads of humor to keep you laughing and a bit of suspense, pick up a copy of HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF. You will be glad you did! Meanwhile, I will be watching for Ms. Spear’s next book, A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS, due to release in October 2014.
