Heatstroke – A Second Chance

Chance and Josh shared a passionate encounter five months ago that came about strictly because Chance’s ‘job’ as a last chance demon demands that he give Josh an opportunity to change his ways.  In order to ‘win’ his ‘Get Out of Hell’ free card Josh had to satisfy Chance’s sexual desires before time ran out.

Ever since then Chance has been unable to concentrate and his dreams are filled with memories of his short time with Josh.  Distraction is not a good thing for a last chance demon – especially not one who is in charge of many other demons like himself. 

Chance’s brother Meryk is tired of Chance’s moping about and surly attitude.  He makes the offer to watch over Chance’s demons while he takes a little time off to ‘get his head on straight.’  This is an opportunity Chance isn’t about to pass up.  Within moments of hearing Meryk’s offer, Chance dematerializes from hell and is on his way to Miami and to pay a visit to Josh.

Josh hadn’t expected to see Chance again.  He earned his chance to live and has made the changes that got him in trouble in the first place.  He’s given up all his lovers so what has he done that warrants a visit from the last chance demon he’s never forgotten?  How will he feel when he learns that Chance hasn’t been unable to forget him either?  The passion between them still burns as bright as ever.  Will Josh and Chance spontaneously combust or will they find a way to cool the flames?

I was intrigued with Chance and Josh’s relationship after reading SNOWBALL’S CHANCE so I was thrilled when I learned that their story continues with SECOND CHANCE.  Face it, we expect demons to be cold emotionless creatures so Chance’s feelings for Josh make him seem more personable.  Josh and Chance’s relationship is shocking and the sex is beyond hot – in more ways than one.  L. Shannon has certainly written a compelling story with a unique couple that readers will want to remember.  Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of this couple in future storylines.
