Tiernan, a fierce warrior, had found the Book of Fennore and had wanted to destroy it. But nothing he did to it would work. Although he did manage to tear some pages out of the book, it fought back, trying to retain the pages, and he still has the scars from that battle. However, as a result, he had been sucked up into the book along with his younger brother, Ethan. A flawed man with scars of his own, he feels contempt for himself for the way he let down his people long ago. His enemy, the Druid, is the one who cursed him to be in this dreaded place and he can’t wait to see him again.
Leaving the restaurant and still arguing about her trip to Ireland, Shealey and her father are shocked to hear a loud noise and suddenly there is a rip in time and space in the atmosphere on each side of them. From two openings in the night, two men appear and rush each other, meeting in the parking lot right in front of Shealy and her father. Although the pale man tries to get Shealy, her father protects her. The other man falls on her and they are suddenly sucked up. She still sees her horrified father reaching for her, but she cannot get to him. Suddenly, she finds herself with Tiarnan and the boy in the black heart of Fennore, Inis Brandubh or Blackheart Island, which is inside the Book of Fennore.
This event gives Tiarnan hope as he feels that her father has some type of magic and when he comes for his daughter, he and his brother will be waiting to go with them. He has been on Black Heart Island for a long time and until now there has been no hope of getting out. Shealy also stirs feelings in him that he has never felt before for a woman, but in the world he is living in, he is afraid to fall in love and end up losing the woman he loves. They have already lost so many people to the wild creatures and danger that resides there.
On Black Heart Island, Shealy makes some shocking discoveries and must use the innate ability she never knew she had to hopefully free them…if she doesn’t get killed first. After the accident, she had thought she would never have a love of her own, but she finds herself falling fast for Tiarnan. Can she find her father and a way out of Black Heart so she and Tiarnan will have a chance at a happily-ever-after? Will they find their way out of black heart to further explore the love they hold for each other?
An adventurous tale, HAUNTING DESIRE, the third novel in the MISTS OF IRELAND series, is a fast-paced, action-packed paranormal romance that hooks you from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the very satisfying ending. Talented author Erin Quinn sweeps you up into this strange land, bringing it to life right before your eyes. Tiarnan and Shealy are two flawed and vulnerable people who would not normally have met since they are from such different times and places. Tiarnan finds he also has a unique ability that helps them survive the danger. Adventure, steamy love scenes, a unique set of characters, magic, time-travel, mystery, fantasy and heated romance all combine to make a story that will be a delight to readers of various genres. All of the characters come from varying times, but they all have the Isle of Fennore in common. Each has his own unique story on how he/she came to be in Black Heart. HAUNTING DESIRE is a welcome addition to my bookshelf. For a tale with plenty of spice, imagination and creativity do not miss HAUNTING DESIRE!
