Riane Arvid is a warrior woman; an Enforcer who acts as sort of a time cop. Her father Baran is known as the Death Lord by his enemies and feared by all. Riane was kidnapped as a young girl by the Xerans. She was meant to be a living sacrifice to their god. Baran and Frieka, Riane’s cyborg wolf companion, were able to rescue her in time, thanks to assistance from a mysterious source. Now Riane is all grown up and thirsting for revenge. She is betrayed though, by one of her fellow Enforcers, and is thrust into the past to 21st century Earth. Alone and trapped in a strange world, Riane is a sitting duck waiting to be killed by her enemies. Until she meets Nick, a stranger whom her mind tells her could be dangerous, but her body tells her he could be the man she’s always waited for.
When his stone’s power draws him to Riane, Nick immediately identifies her as a girl whom he was responsible for saving years before, and to whom he has always felt a connection. Riane, however, recognizes that Nick has Xeran DNA, and she is very suspicious of his motives. The two soon realize that they are caught up in an elaborate plot, and they may only be able to rely on each other. The Xeran’s crazed leader is on the hunt for both Riane and Nick... and he wants above all else to capture Nick’s mysterious stone and use it for his own evil plans. Riane is going to have to use all her skills as a warrior, and Nick will have to learn to harness his Xeran powers in order to save their universe; in the past, present and in the future.
I have been waiting anxiously for the release of GUARDIAN ever since reading the first novel in the TIME HUNTERS series; WARRIOR, and I have to say that author Angela Knight did not disappoint!
