Annabeth Hanover was what one would consider normal. She loved arts and crafts, her gnomes being her prized possession. Abby was so fond of gnomes, she even wrote a pictorial record based book on garden gnomes in an urban setting featuring her own gnomes. She never expected it to sell, but was ecstatic to receive the documents and a royalty check in the mail. It was enough money to go towards her dream.

Abby had found, what she knew to be, the perfect home for her. Now she could put the down payment on Number Thirteen Oak Point Way that she had been fantasizing about for weeks. It was as if the home had called her.  She finds herself in the midst of friendly neighbors and charming surroundings. Although her new neighbors are very nice, even helping her move in, she soon notices they aren’t quite ordinary. She also soon comes to realize she isn’t as average as she thought she was either.  Oak Point Way is the home to werewolves, mermaids, medusi, and other magical beings. If that isn’t a lot to take in already, Abby has to deal with learning that she is a Nexus, a rare person full of magical power.

Now she has to cope with all of this as well as her beloved gnomes that she’s accidentally brought to life. The ever charming and sexy blond warlock on the block, Xander, is there to offer moral support and help her learn to harness her powers.  The problem is, whenever he is around, Abby’s powers seem to go wild along with her emotions. Add to the mix that she has become the target of a stalker whose threats are becoming more serious each time, and she has more than her fair share of turmoil to deal with. Will she be able to control her powers, find love with Xander, and put an end to the stalker and the trouble he brings? Anything is possible in this magical modern fairytale.

GNOMES OF SUBURBIA is the opening book to Viola Grace’s NEXUS CHRONICLES. It is filled with a variety of elements. Humor, magic, romance, and intrigue all make an appearance in this charming story.  Viola Grace does such a good job bringing her characters to life and establishing their place in the story. The mischievous gnomes and their antics are hilarious, be warned they aren’t your average variety garden gnomes. The neighbors each have their own unique personality and needs.  I look forward to hopefully reading their story in the upcoming installments. I found myself wishing I lived in Abby’s neighborhood; a sexy blond warlock next door would be nice. GNOMES OF SUBURBIA is a promising start to what is sure to be a fun-filled series. This light-hearted romantic fantasy is sure to bring a laugh or two to your day.
