Forbidden, Book 3 – The Revolution

Twenty-five year old vampire and mage, Agent Randell Renfield with the Preternatural Special Forces, is the son of Byron Renfield, the powerful vampire who started the revolution to integrate humans and vampires. Dell, who normally has no problems when it comes to women, has hit a snag. That snag happens to be his partner, Special Agent Alexandria Sanchez, whom he is having strong desires to take a “taste” of. The urge to drink blood has never happened before and this combined with the deep arousing feelings she’s causing to surface are about to drive him insane.

Not only is Alex Dell’s partner in the PSF, but she is the special assignment his father has requested he undertake. Twenty-five years ago, at the start of the Revolution, a baby girl was kidnapped. Her father and Dell's father have been searching for her without any success until coming across Alex. She may just be the Chosen who was taken all those years ago. Dell's objective is to obtain a DNA sample and bring her in if she is a match.  Alex is unaware of any of this and before Dell can enlighten her, they have to leave for Las Vegas on a mission.

The two will have to pose as an engaged couple working for a nightclub believed to be a front to launder drug money, but soon acting on desires becomes more of an instinct than a performance for the job. Problems arise when it turns out that their boss at the nightclub, Raif, is a vampire with his own agendas and both Dell and Alex happen to star in a few of his fantasies. Raif wants them at all costs, but underestimates Dell’s powers. However, Raif’s higher ups want Dell and Alex for a lot more than their good looks and happen to know their parents. As the dangers mount, so do the tension between Dell and Alex, and it seems Alex has a secret of her own. Because of a spell placed on her, she’s unable to consummate any sexual encounters.  Dell will have to make some decisions. The ties between their heritage, the past, and the future could forever change the way of life as they know it.

This third installment in Samantha Sommerby’s FORBIDDEN series is every bit as entertaining as its predecessors. THE REVOLUTION is a fast paced paranormal romance that ensnares you with its complex plot which is mixed with equal parts suspense and sexiness. I was also fascinated by her main characters in the story. While I was smitten by Byron Renfield in THE ASCENSION, his son Dell is equally as captivating in his own unique way. The heroine, Alex, is a woman who shows her feminine side yet can hold her own. It was very interesting to see how the two struggled with their emotions and how they interacted with one another. I am counting down the days for book number four, THE TEMPTATION, to release.
