Gabriel St. John investigates a recent murder that has the same characterizations of a murder from 1849 for his upcoming book.  He contacts the surviving daughter to assist with his book’s authenticity.  When Sara shows up early, he is not prepared for the electrifying passion that flares up within him.  Gabriel knows that Sara is hiding a secret, but is willing to forgo badgering her because of his own dark secrets.   Will Gabriel take a chance on love and open up to the only woman who has captured his heart?  Or will his devastating secret cause him to suffer another heart break?

Sara Michaels suffered a horrible loss when her mother was murdered.  She decides to leave her job as a lab researcher to go back to her mother’s hometown, where many secrets are held, and help Gabriel with the background details of her mother’s death.  Sara has an ulterior motive, but now she is unsure about how she fell in love with Gabriel so quickly.  Will Sara let the walls around her heart tumble and discover that Gabriel’s love can make her whole again?  Or will his betrayal cause her to shut down her heart forever?

FALLEN is an intense paranormal, wrapped in a gripping plot wrought with mystery and treachery, that sizzles in a poignant love story.  Erin McCarthy pens another alluring tale that left this reader emotionally satisfied from the laughter, the tears, and when the two hearts soared as one.  Ms. McCarthy does a beautiful job allowing the characters to grow together so brilliantly throughout this saga.

Sara Michaels tore at my heart strings.  I felt her pain and rooted for her to shed all the baggage and start living again.  She is unsure of herself and hesitant to handle her feelings for Gabriel.  She believes the stubborn and reserved Gabriel is much more than he portrays himself to be and can not help falling in love with him.

Gabriel is a sexy and charming man who has experienced so much in his life.  I felt sorry for him and then I found myself yelling at him to let his shields down and open his heart to experience true love.  He is a complicated character with many facets to him.  He falls hard for Sara and is not willing to let his pain hurt her, but in the same breath he can not resist her.

FALLEN is a dark saga that will be going on my keeper shelf and I look forward to more of her enthralling tales.
