At a crossroads in her life, Talia returns to her parent’s home to think about her future.  That future is threatened when Talia is kidnapped by two horrible, troll-like creatures who carry her to their world through the faerie myst to their fortress.

Talia doesn’t understand what has happened or why these creatures have taken her. However, she overhears their plans to rape her in order to prevent the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy and she is determined to get away before they can accomplish their awful plans.

When Prince Calian discovers that the Orcs have taken a human female to their lair, he knows that he must rescue her even though the elves think of humans as their enemies.  Calian has always heard that humans were weak and selfish beings, but Talia’s unselfishness and bravery soon convince him that the stories he has heard are false.  Before long, Calian finds himself growing more and more attracted to Talia, but he knows a relationship between them is forbidden and could mean a death sentence for both of them.

What neither Calian nor Talia realize is that many years ago, a prophecy was given to King Daralis of the Calen’taur that foretold of the destruction of the elven race unless a chosen one sired an heir with a human female.  Calian is that chosen one, and Talia is his mate, but is he strong enough to overcome centuries of mistrust and hatred in order to surrender to his passion for Talia and fulfill his destiny?

EYES OF FIRE is an amazing and very emotional story.  C.J. England has created a world so breathtakingly real that you can almost reach out and touch the characters as you read their story.  I was near tears many times as Talia struggled to adapt to both her new, sometimes hostile, surroundings and her feelings for Calian.  Calian is a very complex character.  He tries to reconcile his duties as the future ruler of the Calen’taur Elves with the realization that Talia is his soul mate; his Mylari.  His choices are not easy, and he sometimes makes terrible decisions along the way but that is part of what makes this story such a roller coaster of a read.  EYES OF FIRE is the first book in a series and this reviewer will definitely be waiting impatiently for the others.
