Aimery is the commander of the Fae army, and a legend among the Fae. He has been fighting to keep the realm safe for centuries and is the king’s finest warrior. Recently, there have been murders in the land; a Fae has turned to using black magic. Aimery has been trying to track down the one responsible.

Kyndra is a warrior priestess in the Dragon Order, sworn to protect all dragons. She is to watch over the most magical of all dragons, the rare blue dragons. It is what she has lived her whole for and is next in line to become High Priestess.  When one of the blue dragons is suddenly murdered and its egg stolen, she is sent by the current High Priestess to find out who committed such a crime.

The king believes the murderer Aimery has been tracking is also responsible for the slain dragon and abduction of the dragon egg. Upon investigation, Aimery learns that one of his closest friends, Isran, is the culprit. Aimery and Kyndra meet at the palace under the king’s orders to discuss how to proceed. They are to bring the egg back and return Isran so that he can be punished for his actions.

As Kyndra and Aimery leave the safety of their world, traveling to the black world of Thav in pursuit of Isran, they are thrown into a new existence without the use of their magic. They must rely on skills and the trust they have in each other to complete their mission. What neither of them expected was the indescribable desire that grew for each other. Kyndra had taken vows into celibacy when she devoted herself to the Dragon Order, but longs for Aimery’s touch. Soon she gives herself over to the passion and love she has come to feel for the strong warrior. Now that Kyndra and Aimery have found each other will they have to give up everything to defeat Isran?

DRAGONFYRE is one of those stories that will leave you in awe. Donna Grant’s majestic tale was such a refreshing read.  She has captured all that is fantasy wonderfully. Her unique depiction of the Fae world and the detail she poured into it were incredible. Donna’s characters show such strength and depth. Isran is a villain you love to hate from early on and was one of the best “bad guys” I’ve read about in sometime.  The heroine Kendra has a mind of her own and the hero Aimery is a force to be reckoned with. The connection Aimery and Kendra share and the struggles they are faced with throughout were moving. DRAGONFYRE is a must read.
