Lonely River Pack leader Jack Owens takes the wellbeing of everyone who falls in his jurisdiction very seriously.  Ginny, however, has been a thorn in his side since he first met her.  She doesn’t recognize his authority and does exactly what she wants.  He’s been biding his time waiting for her to come to him because he knows that attempting to force her to his will would result in her running from him and he’d never win her over the way he wants.

 

Jack views Ginny’s coming to him for help as both a blessing and a problem.  It’s a blessing because he’s waited so long for the opportunity to get to know her on a very personal level and a problem because it means that some of his pack members are ignoring his dictates regarding Ginny and her ranch.   Jack accompanies her to her ranch and vows to help in any way possible but being this close to Ginny is bringing out the beast he’s trying so hard to control.  Fortunately Ginny can’t deny her desire for him either despite her intentions to remain independent. 

 

Jack needs her in more ways than one.  He’s at a loss as to what to do about one of the young women in his pack who’s on the verge of her first heat and shows no interest in any of the men presented as possible safe options.  He’s hoping that Ginny can offer some insight into what to do about the precarious situation Hazel is unwittingly creating because the males are becoming uncontrollable in their desire for her.  Ginny’s well aware of the reason why Hazel isn’t interested in any of the males – she’s got her heart set on a specific male – one who doesn’t appear to even know she’s alive. 

 

The writing team of Moira Rogers kicks off their latest series with a bang.  DOWN & DIRTY is set in a futuristic environment in which war has resulted in a serious decrease in the human population and wolves have made their presence well known.  In WILD CARD we’re treated to the alpha male Jack and his love interest Ginny as they struggle with their own emotional needs for each other.  It’s a need that Ginny tried extremely hard to deny.  I’m really looking forward to future stories in this series because I’m extremely curious about what happens with Hazel’s situation and the rest of the pack.
