Dawg Town: Prairie Rose

Rose Blacktail doesn’t often bring guests home but something about the new town librarian entices her to make the offer to let him sleep off his evening drinks.  She certainly couldn’t leave the unsuspecting man to the highjinks of the Dawgs.  Besides there is an attraction she feels for him that she can’t deny.  Her only concern is if she acts on that attraction she risks going all cute, plump and furry and somehow she doesn’t believe Todd is quite ready to find himself in an intimate encounter with a rodent.

Todd Hunter is working undercover as a librarian in Barker, Kansas while he investigates how the El Foresteros motorcycle gang’s drug shipment disappeared.  The town occupants strike him as odd but he certainly can’t imagine any of them would have anything to do with drugs.  The bucked teeth and odd behavior and chattering he’s heard out of the town children have him feeling decidedly out of place.

Rose and Todd spent the evening at Prairie Dawg Bar harmlessly flirting before she decides to take pity on him and not leave him to the whims of her fellow Dawgs – who have obvious plans of making Todd their entertainment for the evening.  Before she’s really had time to think about it, Rose invites him home with her but she doesn’t even take into consideration that the moon is full and she’s in heat.  Almost immediately she has him backed into a wall and rubbing her nose against his.  She’s going to find it very difficult to keep from shifting to her prairie dog form – especially when Todd makes her feel so primal.

PRAIRIE ROSE by Carlanime Bligh is a wonderful addition to the Changeling Press DAWG TOWN line.  Todd’s status as an outsider makes him a sure target for the playful antics of the Dawgs but fortunately Rose saves him from that humiliation.  I found it extremely humorous that Todd has no idea that he’s in a town of shifters yet knows that there’s something very different about everyone he’s met.  There are definitely sparks between Todd and Rose but they’ve both got their secrets and aren’t quite ready to share – oh, but they have a good time otherwise J
