Irisa, daughter of Lord Wallace Mansfield, is definitely a DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. Kidnapped from her father's land, she actually falls off a dragon and ends up in the middle of nowhere. However, the knight who comes to her rescue is anything but gracious about it. Not only does he doubt her misfortune, he even accuses her of thievery! Too bad he is such an ill mannered buffoon, for he is the finest of male specimens she has ever set eyes on to date.

Sir Ware Pembroke has never met a more unlikely DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. Sassy and bold, the lady, if she really is one, is more coy than dismayed when he finds her bound in a field where he is in pursuit of his stolen dragon. Seriously doubting her word and need, he nonetheless offers to return her home and thus begins a journey of passion and discovery for this strong willed warrior and resourceful maiden. As the sensuous courtship of Ware and Irisa progresses as swiftly as dragon's flight back to Mansfield, secrets are revealed that may very well threaten the growing affection between the couple. When the truth is exposed, can Ware and Irisa have a future together or will they be forced apart forever by circumstances and fate beyond their control?

Brenda Williamson fires the romance with scorching heat and intriguing mystery. With an engaging cast of secondary characters and this is a story that will stay on the mind and have you coming back for more. I definitely will not mind reading more about Sir Pembroke's enigmatic brother, Sir Henry.
