Keith Winston left Red Rock devastated after the death of his lover. After five years in Europe fighting in the war between werewolves and wizards, Keith has returned home. One of his first assignments is a routine one, safely escorting two werewolves, who are seeking sanctuary from the abusive alpha in Helena. Keith soon discovers that there is nothing routine about these two werewolves; Dylan is a submissive beta who unbelievably defied his alpha in order to save his friend, and Abby….Abby is the strongest female werewolf Keith has ever met next to his pack leader’s mate Samantha. When he discovers that Abby is a new werewolf and is in need of a guide to teach her their way of life, Keith knows that only he or his friend Joe are alpha enough to handle Abby’s dominant wolf. Keith is hesitant to bond with Abby as her Guide. The last woman he guided was his murdered lover Kelly. But the thought of Joe touching Abby makes his wolf howl in anger, and Keith knows that his ice cold heart is in serious danger of melting for this woman.
As Abby and Keith slowly start the bonding process, the unthinkable happens. In order to lure Abby away from the safety of Red Rock, Alan Matthews has kidnapped her sister and threatens to kill her. Abby is determined to save her sister, even if it costs Abby her own life. Keith has to decide whether to follow the orders his alpha has given him, or follow his heart and make sure he doesn’t lose another woman that he loves.
CRY SANCTUARY is a delicious, heart-pounding, nail-biting rollercoaster of a ride into the world of the supernatural. The writing duo that makes up Moira Rogers have created a world populated with characters both fascinating and irresistible. Instead of being a femme fatale or being larger than life, heroine Abby is just like the girl next door, one who has been caught up in a nightmare through no fault of her own. Hero Keith carries around emotional baggage; his guilt over the murder of his lover and his fatigue after fighting so long in a war that no one is winning. The chemistry between these two is sizzling hot and very steamy, and they were definitely a perfect match for each other. We also meet several other characters throughout the story, and get the sense that they each have their own tales to tell. I enjoyed reading CRY SANCTUARY very much, and I am looking forward to reading more about the residents of Red Rock in the near future.
