Jasie doesn’t receive another call from Michael during his business trip and upon his return home he doesn’t seem like his usual self. He barely seems to acknowledge her existence. They no longer share any intimate moments. He shackles himself to his computer in the name of “research”. All of this is beginning to be more than Jasie can take. Devastated, she starts to suspect Michael is having an affair. Though she can’t quite come to terms with that either; as the pieces don’t exactly fit. That doesn’t explain his weird new dieting habits or the way he seems totally void of emotion.

 

 

Determined to get to the bottom of what’s caused Michael to change so drastically, she decides to follow him when he leaves the house one day. Where the path takes her is a place she could never have imagined. She does catch Michael meeting someone, but the close encounters he’s been having are none Jasie would have ever thought possible. Will she be able to save their marriage or will the old Michael be lost to her forever?

 

 

CHANGELING is a refreshing take on the sci-fi romance genre. Stephanie Bedwell-Grime does a great job in giving away clues while not quite revealing what’s happened. This is a fast-paced character driven read that will keep you absorbed as you get caught up in what’s happening with the individual protagonists as well as their relationship. There are also a few comical moments thrown in that I found enduring. It’s a great read to slip away from the world with for an afternoon.
