Josie refuses to settle for just any man after being dumped by her boyfriend. However, her two well meaning friends think it is past time for her to get back into the game and end her year of celibacy. The girls decide a special relic from Ye Olde New Age Shoppe is the perfect gift for Josie’s thirty-second birthday. Several glasses of wine into their celebration, the girls have Josie talked into licking the mysterious red glass bottle. When no magical man candy appears, the girls decide to call it a night. The world seems to only hold bad karma for her. However, as Josie makes her way into her bedroom, she is shocked to find a very inviting scene on her bed.

Kede, a pleasure jinni, was created by the Goddess Inna centuries ago. His sole purpose in life is to fulfill the desires of the women who release him from his bottle. Kede has always taken satisfaction in his tasks and finds it as rewarding as the women he’s served. Yet, as the years have passed, he has found himself disliking his brief glances at the world around him, to be had only when summoned out of his glass confines. As he answers the latest call of the tongue to grace his bottle, Kede soon realizes she is different from all the women before.

After wrestling with her morals and uncertainties, Josie gives in to Kede’s offer of pleasure. Though their sexual encounters are magical, Josie wants more than a slave and a hot time in bed. Kede, so used to always putting others first, finds himself falling hard for the beautiful woman who treats him as an equal. The more he works to fulfill his duty, the more he finds himself wishing for a life beyond his bottled home. The connection the two have are more than either ever dreams of finding, but their union is measured by the grains of sand which are rapidly falling which determines the length of Kede’s stay.

Shona Husk delivers a fresh take on the infamous “genie in a bottle” that leaves every girl wishing for one of her own. BOYFRIEND IN A BOTTLE is a fun tale that I was taken with from the heroine’s first lick of the hero’s bottle. Ms. Husk's characters' emotions are well done and drew me into the midst of the story. The thing that stood out the most to me in this read was Kede, whose characterization was done to perfection. He possessed a wicked, sensuous nature, yet it was met with an equal sense of almost innocence due to the life he had been forced to live. I loved the storyline and recommend this as a must read.
