The vampire cartel is on the rise in Meiers Corners, and their target is the local Blood Center. Vampire Logan Steel is on the “good guys” team and has been sent from his Chicago office to install a new updated security system, which will replace the primitive one that is now being used to protect the blood bank. Four centuries of training has more than prepared him for going up against the cartel or any of the other enemies that happen to cross his path. Yet Logan is knocked for a loop by the voluptuous female who works at the center.
As red hot desire ignites instantaneously between the two of them, Leise is determined to staunch the flames. There is no way she can trust another smooth-talking man, especially one who could be a threat to her new job. Logan is determined to show Leise just how much he wants her, and as their connection grows, how much he loves her. He’s willing to wait things out to gain her trust, but if an old nemesis has his way, time may not be an option.
Author Mary Hughes delivers another hit with BITING ME SOFTLY. Her cleverly written novels about the quirky town of Meiers Corner, the eccentric citizens and the hottie vamps that’ve recently set up residence are Logan’s story since Ms. Hughes’ debut novel, BITING NIXIE, and I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved the way this character was fleshed out. Despite being a bit of a loner in the emotional department, this rugged vampire has no qualms with the pleasures that entertaining a woman can bring. The heroine, Liese, whose greatest enjoyment is gadgets and all things tech, is a good compliment to Logan and an all around likable character. As always, the interludes with past characters, as well as, the latest ones to drop on to the scene are extra trimmings to the fun-filled, steamy plots that are delivered. I can’t wait for another installment in the BITING LOVE series.
